The flora on the island are diveded in specific zones, to understanding these zones helps with identification appreciation of the flora.
Life ZonesDry low areas along the coast to the high moist areas near the volcano tops make the climate on the islands vary. In total there are 7 zones within the archipelago.
The various animals and plants have adapted to the condition of the islands and even to the conditions of the zones for specific species. A specifc zone normally hosts a specific flora and the fauna dependent on this flora can be found there as well. Some animals and birds migrate between the zones depending on the conditions.
